In one line: use it on your own data, follow the law when you contact people, do not expect a guarantee of results, and your data stays yours.
1. What Backlog is
Backlog reads a file you supply, works out which records represent revenue you have not collected, ranks them, and drafts messages you might send. It is a prioritising tool. It is not a CRM, an estimating package, an invoicing system, a scheduler, a dispatcher, a lead source or an answering service, and it does not send anything on your behalf.
2. The free scorer
Free to use, with no account. It runs in your browser and we are not involved in the processing. We can change it or take it down at any time, and we do not promise it will always be available.
3. The board
Paid plans start with a fourteen-day trial that takes no payment details. If you do not choose a plan at the end of it, nothing is charged and the board becomes read-only — your data is not deleted and you can still export it. Paid plans are billed monthly and you can cancel at any time; cancelling stops the next charge and does not refund the current month.
4. Your data is yours
You keep ownership of everything you put in. You can export all of it as a CSV at any time. You can ask us to delete it and we will. We do not sell it, share it, rent it, or use it to build lists for anyone else. See the privacy page for where it is stored.
5. Contacting people is on you
Backlog drafts. You send. That makes you the sender, and the rules that apply to senders apply to you — the TCPA, CAN-SPAM, state telemarketing and do-not-call rules, and anything else in force where you operate. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to contact each person you contact, for honouring opt-outs, and for identifying your business correctly.
The product includes guardrails: do-not-contact and opt-out suppression, contact frequency limits, quiet hour warnings, and a label on every draft saying whether it is a reply to something the customer started or marketing you are initiating. Those help. They are not a compliance guarantee and nothing here is legal advice.
6. The numbers are estimates
Every figure Backlog produces — expected value, odds of closing, recoverable totals, the calculator on the home page — is a model, shown rounded and banded on purpose. It is not a forecast, a valuation, a guarantee or financial advice. Whether any of it closes depends on who makes the calls.
7. Fair use
Use it on data you have a right to use. Do not upload lists you bought, scraped or otherwise have no relationship with. Do not use Backlog to send anything unlawful, deceptive or harassing. Do not resell it, copy it, or try to break it. We can suspend an account that does any of these.
8. No warranty, and a limit on liability
Backlog is provided as-is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will find every opportunity in your file or score any of them correctly. To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything arising from your use of Backlog is limited to the amount you actually paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits or indirect losses.
9. Changes
We may change these terms. If a change matters, the date at the top changes and we will tell you before it takes effect rather than after.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Backlog’s operator is established, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules.
