Pricing

$39 a month, and a scorer that costs nothing.

One recovered ticket pays for years of this — but you do not have to take that on faith, because the free scorer runs your own export through the same engine and shows you the number before you pay anyone anything.

Nothing to lose but the file

The scorer is free forever and takes no account. The card is charged the day you start, not a fortnight later — so the free scorer is there to check the number is real before you pay anyone anything. Cancel any time and export your whole list on the way out. We can promise to find the money. Whether it closes is down to who makes the calls, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The full pricing page has what happens after you pay, how cancelling works, and the questions people actually ask about the money.

02

What happens after you pay

Written here as well as on the receipt page, so it is not a surprise you find afterwards.

Stripe emails your receipt straight away. Your board is then set up by hand and the sign-in arrives within one business day. That is a person doing it, not an automatic switch — it is the honest state of a one-person business, and it is on the confirmation page too rather than discovered later.

Your card is charged on the day you start. There is no trial period, and the site says so everywhere rather than burying it. Cancelling is yours to do from the Stripe billing portal at any time — no email, no notice period, no retention call. Every record exports as a CSV on the way out, including everything you logged while you were here.

03

Why the scorer is free and stays free

It is not a trial and it is not crippled. It runs the whole scoring model — the same service lives, the same odds, the same seasonal weighting — on your own file, inside your own browser. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account to make. The model is published in full, so you can check the arithmetic before you believe the number.

What it does not do is remember. Close the tab and it is gone. The paid board is the same engine with a memory: it holds the records, re-ranks them every morning as quotes age and equipment gets older, tracks which message went to whom, and records what you actually collected rather than what you quoted. If the free number is not worth chasing, the board will not make it worth chasing, and you should not buy it.

Questions about the money

What does Backlog cost?

Thirty-nine dollars a month for one user, month to month, with no setup fee, no contract and no minimum term. The free scorer is separate and stays free — it has no account and no limit on how many times you use it.

Is there a free trial?

No, and rather than dress that up: the card is charged the day you start. The free scorer exists instead. It runs your own export through the same scoring engine the paid board uses and shows you the real number before you pay anything, which is a better test than a fortnight of a product you have not decided about.

What happens after I pay?

Stripe emails your receipt immediately, and your board is set up by hand — the sign-in arrives within one business day. That is a real person doing it rather than an automatic switch, and it is written on the confirmation page too rather than discovered afterwards.

How do I cancel?

From the Stripe billing portal, yourself, at any time — the link is in the board and on your receipt. No email, no notice period, no retention call. You can export every record as a CSV on the way out.

What is the difference between the free scorer and the paid board?

The scorer reads your file, ranks it and shows you the number, then forgets it — it keeps nothing and has no account. The board remembers: it holds your records, re-ranks them every morning as quotes age and equipment gets older, tracks which follow-up you already sent to whom, and records what you actually collected. The scoring itself is identical.

Is there a per-user or per-seat price?

Not yet, honestly. Solo is one user. Multi-user shops are priced per shop after a conversation, because the seat-assignment side is not built to the point where selling it by the seat would be fair.
